Chicken Charmers

The other day the four of us {Garrett, Trace, Ruby and I} went and picked up four new pullets to add to my mom's chicken collection!!! They are beautiful, each one a different color and size. Trace and Ruby LOVE the chickens. They chase them around, try to hold them and thoroughly enjoy collecting their eggs. These new little guys are adorable. They are small enough for Trace and Ruby to {kind of} hold and they are soft and SUPER FAST, they are the perfect way to get some of that pent up energy right on out of our kids! We have been going over to my mom's in the early evening and letting them out to wander their new yard. Most of the hens are nice and just leave the little one's alone, but a few of them are actually super aggressive and nasty. Being around the chickens as much as we are makes us very aware that even chickens have cliques!

When we first brought the chickens to my mom's house, we transported them in a dog kennel. Once Garrett shooed one of them back into the kennel for the evening, Ruby stood by the cage and cried and cried... for some reason Trace is a vegetarian and Ruby is an animal rights activist...where did they get that from? If you are wondering {and you know you are} why in the pictures these three look like they are in some sort of wild cat cage...I am pretty sure that the people we bought the cage from {the things you find on craigslist, geez} had some sort of tiger in their yard....Good thing my mom only has chickens and not tigers~ Enjoy the pictures of my sweet little family of animal charmers.
