Paper Wasp Re-location Adventure

Yesterday, while tackling yet another new project in our backyard we came across a rather large group of paper wasps. We have taught our kids that wasps are good for our garden because "they eat the bad bugs" T & R
However, these were right underneath two of our tomato plants and just next to our back deck...too close for comfort with these two curious explorers running around. So, last night after the kids went to bed, we went out back on a re-location mission. {I say "we" like I did something other than stand back and let my brave, curious explorer husband take the lead} He directed me to pull him out from underneath the wash basins by his feet should something go wrong, oh and I held the glass jars that we were putting them in to move them to another location. SUCCESS! Once we had all of the wasps in jars and were ready to move them...our sweet little girl came running out the back door, clearly upset that we were not in bed like she thought. When I picked her up, she immediately stopped crying and because she was totally intrigued with the wasps, talking about them and what color they were and what their home was made of. Then she told me she was hungry, so we made some strawberry toast and sat together at the kitchen table. She took three small bites and a swig of milk, got off of the chair and said "it's time for me to go to bed, goodnight" walked into her room and got into her bed. It was incredible...not two minutes later she came back out and needed me to come lay with her. Eventually we were able to get the wasps to another area at the back of our property, hopefully this morning they were able to pull themselves together and start a new...away from our back porch!
