It is Summer! Garrett and I have been working our tails off making
things work for growing here in our concrete jungle. We are done!
We spent three days removing the lawn in the front yard (oh, and
there is a 100 year old tree, and the roots were CRAZY...that was a
lot of work) We are done! We also reseeded the other part of the
lawn (that part that will most likely FOREVER be a lawn despite
our best efforts to sway a different direction) with a native grass that
will need pretty much no water once it is established. Whoo Whoo!
I planted sedum in my beautiful birthday pots
Garrett set up a drip system to our raised beds and pots, so now we can be sure that everything is being
watered efficiently. Even the old washing machines are serving a growing purpose, housing our potato
plants. It is amazing how much stuff we are still able to grow, even though we are working with the
slab.
We even found a nice corner to tuck away our compost turner
We are so excited to be moving forward with our own yard.
Trace and Ruby have been a big help as well, they love being in our garden, and moving bricks and
other things from one side to the other. They also LOVE dead heading the marigolds that are around our
tomatoes...even when they are not quite ready to be dead headed! They LOVE their back yard, even if
it is full of concrete and rusty old tonka trucks.
